City of Daytona Beach Shores, Florida

Organized in 1960 by local business leaders, the community of Daytona Beach Shores was convinced that a smaller community could provide better services to its residents. Around 80 percent of the current residents live in high-rise condominiums stretching along the Atlantic Ocean. In 1998, the community passed an ordinance that no new buildings would be over 12 stories. It is a pristine family community known for its abundance of mini golf courses.
