Camp Helen State Park

Camp Helen State Park is located in Panama City Beach Florida and is home to one of the largest coastal dune lakes in Florida. The park itself is 180 acres in size and offers a plethora of recreation and outdoor activities. Recreational activities include swimming, hiking, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding and birdwatching.

One of the highlights of this park is Lake Powell, a rare coastal dune lake that outflows directly into the Gulf of Mexico. The lake can be accessed from within the park and kayaks and paddle boards are available to rent.

Follow the hiking trail to the beach and view the lake from the beachfront where, at times of outflow, the lake connects with the Gulf. This trail is about a quarter mile hike to the beachfront so be prepared to walk in the sand for a bit.

Camp Helen State Park is a haven for shore birds and nesting sea turtles.

This beach area features the leftover pilings from an old pier and is a much photographed spot.

Camp Helen State Park has something for every nature and outdoor enthusiast. On the lake, beachfront, Gulf waters, or hiking trails, this park offers a perfect family day outing.
