Florida's Private Colleges, Universities & Higher Learning Institutions

Florida's private colleges are independent from the public universities and often have much smaller class sizes, so they can be great for a more personalized or specialized education. There are about 30 private colleges and universities here in Florida and additional Higher Learning Institutions that offer specialized courses. Some of these schools are affiliated with a specific religion or a particular field of study, but many are unaffiliated liberal arts schools.

The American University of Leadership is an Orlando based school that brings quality education to people from around the world through on campus and online classes. It specializes in business and leadership programs.

Atlantis University is a Miami based international college that offers Associates, Bachelors, Masters, and certification programs in the fields of business and technology. It also specializes in language education.

Beacon College is a Leesburg college for students who learn differently. Students with learning disabilities, dyslexia, ADHD, and other conditions can earn associates and bachelors degrees in programs that work for them.

Carlos Albizu University has campuses in Puerto Rico and Miami. It specializes in graduate psychology programs. It also offers degrees in Education, Business, Criminal Justice, Human Service, and Speech and Languages.

City College is a Florida college with locations in Altamonte Springs, Fort Lauderdale, Gainesville, Hollywood, and Miami. It offers associates and bachelors degrees in the fields of business, heath, and legal/justice.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is the world's largest fully accredited university that specializes in aviation and aerospace. It has two campuses in Prescott, Arizona and Daytona Beach, Florida. The Daytona Beach campus offers about 30 majors in addition to it's most well-known Aeronautical programs.

Flagler College is a beautiful private college located in downtown St. Augustine. The campus centers around the Ponce de Leon Hotel, a luxury hotel built in 1888. Study one of nearly 30 subjects with small classes in a gorgeous historical setting. 

The Florida Institute of Technology is a college in Melbourne that focuses on undergraduate and graduate programs in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and aviation.

Florida National University is a small college in Hialeah. It has associates, undergraduate, and graduate degree programs in a variety of different subjects.

Florida Southern College was founded in Orlando in 1883 as a United Methodist school. It is now located in Lakeland. It offers about 50 undergraduate, pre professional, and graduate programs. It as been called one of the most beautiful campuses in the country and has the largest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture in the world. 

Hodges University is a small college with two campuses and Naples and Fort Myers. It is a small tight knit school with a variety of different associates, undergraduate, and graduate programs.

Jacksonville University is a private university located on the St. John's River in Jacksonville. It was founded in 1934. It offers small classes in over 70 undergraduate majors and 23 masters and doctoral programs.

Johnson & Wales University is a private college with locations in Rhode Island, North Carolina, Colorado, and Miami, Florida. The first campus opened in Providence Rhode Island in 1914. The Miami location has many different programs with a special focus on hospitality and culinary subjects. It also has business, criminal justice, and fashion programs.

Jones College is a small school in Jacksonville with less than 500 students. It has undergraduate programs in the fields of business, education, health management, legal assistant, medical assistant, and computer information systems.

Jose Maria Vargas University is a college in Pembroke Pines offering classes in both English and Spanish. It has programs in Allied Health and Nursing, Psychology, Education, Business, and Art and Design.

The University of Tampa is a private college in downtown Tampa. It is a beautiful campus renowned for its Moorish Revival architecture. More than 8,000 students study in over 200 degree programs.
