Libraries are a fundamental part of our society. They offer free educational and informational resources to everyone in the community. Libraries also have programs to help educate both young and old. Children's reading programs are very popular in Florida with many libraries offering pre-school story times, summer programs with activities to encourage learning and reading, and provide a place for stay-at-home parents to socialize and bring their children together for a fun day of reading and sharing.
Many Florida Libraries offer free job training courses and programs for those who need to improve their skills as well as computer courses for the older community who want to keep up with todays technologies. Some libraries, such as Orange Country Public Library in downtown Orlando, has a complete center dedicated to the most recent technologies with photography equipment and studio rooms, audio and sound recording equipment and studio, computers with the latest programs, large screen video screens and much more. Classes are taught and rooms can be reserved for personal or business use.
This is just a sampling of the many resources and offerings that Florida Libraries provide. Haven't been to the library lately? Every county in Florida has a public library system, sometimes combined with surrounding counties. Catalogues and databases for the library can be found online as well as programs and community activities. Check out your local library from our Library Directory and Listing below.
