Florida is situated on a peninsula and is located at the southeastern most point of the United States between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic, and the Straits of Florida. It borders both Alabama and Georgia to the north. Florida history with maps dates back all the way to the mid 1800s when the state was first founded. Of course these maps have changed overtime as the new settlements spurred across the state. Maps of Florida can be accessed online or purchased at one of Florida’s tourists centers and shops.
