Broward County is located in Southeast Florida bordering the Atlantic Ocean and Palm Beach, Dade, Hendry and Collier Counties.

Broward County was established in 1915 from a portion of Dade County and named for Napoleon B. Broward, governor from 1905 to 1909 and a principal proponent of early efforts to drain the Everglades.

The BB&T Center is an indoor arena located in Sunrise (Fort Lauderdale Metro area), Florida. Home of the Florida Panthers NHL team, the arena also hosts basketball, arena football and concerts. 

Headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Broward County Schools serve nearly 260,000 students in more than 300 school and education centers making it the sixth largest school district in the United States and the second largest in Florida. Broward County Public Schools proudly offers 70 magnet programs at schools across the District. Eleven of the District’s magnet programs have recently been redesigned, offering students more opportunities for special instruction and programs not available anywhere else.

The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale is one the Art Institutes, a system of schools that specialize in design, fashion, culinary arts, and media and visual arts. It helps students foster their creativity while preparing for their future careers.

The Braille and Talking Book Library is a library dedicated to providing reading materials to blind and visually impaired residents. Its headquarters is located in Daytona and it has nine subregional locations in Coca, Ft. Myers, Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Clearwater, Miami, Orlando, Pensacola, and Lake Worth to serve residents throughout the state.

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts is a large performing arts venue in Fort Lauderdale. It houses a few theaters, the largest of which seats nearly 3,000 people. 

The Broward County Library system has 39 branches. Fort Lauderdale has 9 branches including the main branch, The Nova Southeastern University branch, the Bienes Museum of the Modern Book, and the African-American Research Library. There are 4 branches in Pompano Beach, 2 in Deerfield Beach, 2 in Davie, 3 in Hollywood, 2 in Lauderhill, 3 in Pembroke Pines, and one each in West Park, Dania Beach, Hallandale Beach, Hallandale, Margate, Miramar, North Lauderdale, Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Sunrise, Tamarac, Plantation, Lauderdale Lakes, and Weston.

City College is a Florida college with locations in Altamonte Springs, Fort Lauderdale, Gainesville, Hollywood, and Miami. It offers associates and bachelors degrees in the fields of business, heath, and legal/justice.

The City of Parkland Library is a public library in Parkland, Florida. Library cards are available for free for Parkland residents and students, teachers, and business owners of the city.

Coral Springs Center for the Arts is a theater that focuses on bringing arts of all kinds to people throughout the community. It has a theater for the performing arts as well as gallery spaces for the visual arts.

The Ethel M. Gordon Oakland Park Library has been serving the residents of Oakland Park since 1958. Library cards are free for residents of Broward County. The library is also home to the Oakland Park Historical Society.

Everest University is a college based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Though the main campus is located in Florida, Everest has locations all over the country and online programs to serve as many people as possible. It focuses on programs in business.

Florida Atlantic University was founded in 1964 in Boca Raton as a university that would revolutionize the higher learning institutions by offering an option for all students and not just the wealthy. FAU also was first in introducing college education to the information age.  

Today Florida Atlantic University serves over 27,000 students on 7 campuses and sites. FAU has more than 180 degree programs, and is ranked as the most ethnically and culturally diverse institution in the Florida's State University System.

The Florida Children's Theater is a theater in Fort Lauderdale dedicated to giving children ages 4 to 18 a play to perform. Founded in 1952, the FLCT, as it is known, is the oldest documented children's theater in the state.

Florida Technical College is a two-year college with degree programs in healthcare, food and beverage, beauty, and criminal justice. It has locations in DeLand, Kissimmee, Lakeland, Orlando, Pembroke Pines, and Cutler Bay.

Jersey College is a nursing college with 6 locations in New Jersey and Florida. The Florida Campuses are in Fort Lauderdale, Largo, Tampa, and Jacksonville.

Jose Maria Vargas University is a college in Pembroke Pines offering classes in both English and Spanish. It has programs in Allied Health and Nursing, Psychology, Education, Business, and Art and Design.

Keiser University is a private college in Fort Lauderdale. It has about 20,000 students at the main campus and the 18 other Florida campuses. It has over 100 associates, specialist, bachelors, masters, and doctoral majors in many different areas of study.

Key College is a is a school in Dania Beach, Florida. It offers bachelors and associates degrees in the business, legal, and medical industries and specializes in placing graduates directly into jobs in their field.

NOVA Southeastern University is a private university with lots of undergraduate programs and prestigious graduate programs in medicine, law, psychology, business, education, pharmacy, dentistry, and many more. It's main campus is located in Fort Lauderdale, with several other campuses throughout the state.

Okan International University is a small college in Dania Beach. It offers bachelors and masters degrees in business, healthcare, and hospitality.

The Parker Playhouse is a 1,167 seat theater in Fort Lauderdale. It was one of the cities first performance venues, and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2017.

Port Everglades is Florida’s “powerhouse port” due to the fact that it is one of the top three cruise ports in the world as well as one of the most active containerized cargo ports in the U.S. and South Florida’s main seaport for petroleum products such as gasoline and jet fuel.

The Stage Door Theatre is a two-stage theater that opened in 1993 in Margate. It was renovated from an old movie theater into a performing arts venue that puts on many shows throughout the year. 

Federally Recognized Seminole Tribe of Florida has more non-contiguous reservations than any tribe in North America. 6 Florida Reservations located in Tampa, Immokalee, Brighton, Fort Pierce, Big Cypress & Hollywood.

A very active Support Group for Homeschoolers in Broward County. 

Welcome to the home page for the Broward Homeschool Teens-N-Tweens group. We are an inclusive group. This group is designed to meet the needs of our Tween, age 10-12 and Teen, 13+ homeschool children. We have classes, and events especially for this age group. 

...is a Christ centered organization, established in September 1999 in Southwest Broward County.  H.E.A.R.T.S. was formed to bring Homeschooling families together in order to support, educate, and encourage them in their efforts to educate their children at home. To achieve these goals, the group meets monthly to pray for and encourage one another, share methods, curriculum, ideas, and to plan group events, field trips and classes.

Homeschooling South Florida is a Yahoo Group designed for homeschooling kids (and their moms/dads) from the Palm Beaches, Broward County, and Dade County. Members on this board are open to discuss homeschooling issues such as curriculum selection, unschooling, the pros and cons (when mom/dad becomes overwhelmed), offer advice to new homeschoolers and share articles found concerning homeschooling issues.

We are a nonreligious community of naturally-minded families who are actively homeschooling young children in and around Weston. Although we may use different schooling methods, we are all interested in creating a peaceful, respectful environment to nurture our children's development and are committed to positive discipline.

We are an active, inclusive and social support group for homeschooling mothers of school-age children. All members are encouraged to plan and participate in many fun and enriching activities including playdates, field trips, study sessions and more. We strive to have fun while we educate our children and make friends for ourselves.
