The state of Florida holds various academic competitions throughout the year for all grade levels and academic areas. Florida’s most popular academic championship is called the Commissioner’s Academic Challenge. This challenge is a high school academic tournament where all school districts are invited  to select the top 6 academic achievers in their district to compete in the state championship. The districts are placed in three divisions based on the fall FTE summary provided by the Florida Department of Education. The goal of the tournament is to provide a prestigious academic arena in which Florida's academically talented high school students are recognized.
