Every county in Florida has a public library system (sometimes several counties are combined, for instance the Northwest Regional Library System serves Bay County, Gulf County, and Liberty County). Catalogues and databases for the library can be found online.

The Alachua County Library District has 12 branches located in Alachua, High Springs, Newberry, Archer, Micanopy, Hawthorne, Waldo, and Gainesville. Five branches are located in Gainesville including the Headquarters, which is the largest library. The district also has two bookmobiles, which bring books to other locations throughout the county.

The Altamonte Springs City Library is in Seminole County but it is not part of the official Seminole County library system. It has been operated by the city since 1960.

The Boca Raton Public Library is in Palm Beach County, but is separate from the Palm Beach County library system. It has two locations within Boca Raton. Library cards are free to anyone in the city of Boca Raton and are available for annual purchase for those living outside of the city.

The Boynton Beach City Library is separate from the Palm Beach County library system. Library cards are available to anyone who lives in Palm Beach County, goes to school in Palm Beach County, or works in Boynton Beach.

The Bradford County Public Library is the only library in Bradford County. It is located in Starke. It is part of the New River Public Library Cooperative, which also supports libraries in Baker County and Union County.

The Braille and Talking Book Library is a library dedicated to providing reading materials to blind and visually impaired residents. Its headquarters is located in Daytona and it has nine subregional locations in Coca, Ft. Myers, Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Clearwater, Miami, Orlando, Pensacola, and Lake Worth to serve residents throughout the state.

The Brevard County Library system has 17 branches located in Cape Canaveral, Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, Palm Bay, Melbourne Beach, Merritt Island, Mims, Palm Bay, Port St. John, Satellite Beach, Micco, Titusville, West Melbourne, and 4 in Melbourne.

The Brockway Memorial Library is an independent public library in Miami Shores. Library cards are free for Miami Shores residents and are available for purchase for non-residents.

The Broward County Library system has 39 branches. Fort Lauderdale has 9 branches including the main branch, The Nova Southeastern University branch, the Bienes Museum of the Modern Book, and the African-American Research Library. There are 4 branches in Pompano Beach, 2 in Deerfield Beach, 2 in Davie, 3 in Hollywood, 2 in Lauderhill, 3 in Pembroke Pines, and one each in West Park, Dania Beach, Hallandale Beach, Hallandale, Margate, Miramar, North Lauderdale, Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Sunrise, Tamarac, Plantation, Lauderdale Lakes, and Weston.

The Calhoun County Public Library has 2 branches in Blountstown, 3 branches in Altha, and 1 in Kinard. The main branch is in Blountstown.

The Charlotte County Library has 5 branches. 2 are in Punta Gorda, 2 including the Charlotte County Historical Center are in Port Charlotte, and 1 is in Englewood.

The Citrus County Library system has 5 branches in Beverly Hills, Crystal River, Floral City, Homosassa, and Iverness.

The City of Hialeah Libraries has 6 branches all located in Hialeah, Florida. Library cards are available for any residents of Miami-Dade County.

The City of Parkland Library is a public library in Parkland, Florida. Library cards are available for free for Parkland residents and students, teachers, and business owners of the city.

The Clay County Public Library System has 5 branches in Green Cove Springs, Fleming Island, Keystone Heights, Middleburg, Orange Park.

The Clearwater Public Library System has 5 branches all located in Clearwater and Clearwater Beach. The main branch is located on Osceola Avenue. It is part of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative.

The Collier County Public Library has 10 branches. 7 of those branches including the library's headquarters are located in Naples. The other 3 are in Everglades City, Immokalee, and Marco Island.

The Columbia County Public Library has 3 branches, two of which, including the main branch, are located in Lake City. The 3rd is located in Fort White.

The Delray Beach Public Library is located in Delray Beach. It is separate from the Palm Beach County library system, but can be accessed using a Palm Beach County library card.

The Dunedin Public Library has two branches, the Dunedin Main Library and the Friends Branch Library, both located in Dunedin. It is part of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative.

The East Lake Community Library is a library located in Palm Harbor. It is part of the Pinellas County Library Cooperative.

The Emily Taber Public Library is the only library in Baker County, Florida. It is located in Macclenny. It is under the New River Library Collective, which also provides supporting library services in Bradford County and Union County.

The Ethel M. Gordon Oakland Park Library has been serving the residents of Oakland Park since 1958. Library cards are free for residents of Broward County. The library is also home to the Oakland Park Historical Society.

The Eustis Memorial Library has been an independent library in Eustis for over 100 years.

The Flagler County Library System has two branches, the Main Branch in Palm Coast and the Bunnell Branch in Bunnell. Library cards are available to residents of Flagler County, St. John's County, and Volusia County.

The Fort Myers Beach Public Library is a library in Fort Myers. It is separate from the Lee County Library System, but any resident of Lee County is eligible for a Fort Myers Beach Public library card.

The Franklin County Public Library has two branches in Eastpoint and Carrabelle. 

The Gadsden County Public Library has 3 branches serving Gadsden County, in Quincy, Chattahoochee, and Havana.

The Gulf Beaches Public Library is a part of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative. It has been serving the community of Madeira Beach and the surrounding areas since 1952.

The Gulfport Public Library is a library in the Pinellas County Library Cooperative located in Gulfport, Florida.

The Heartland Library Cooperative serves DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Highlands, and Okeechobee Counties. Highlands county has three libraries in Avon Park, Lake Placid, and Sebring. The DeSoto County Library is located in Arcadia, the Glades County Library is located in Moore Haven, The Hardee County Library is located in Wauchula, and the Okeechobee County Library is located in Okeechobee.

The Hendry County Library System has 4 branches, 3 in Clewiston, and 1 in LaBelle. The headquarters is the Clewiston Public Library.

The Hernando County Public Library has 4 branches, 3 in Brooksville, and 1 in Spring Hill. The main library is located in downtown Brooksville.

The Highland Beach Library is an independent public library in Highland Beach. Library cards are free for residents of Highland Beach and are available for purchase for non-residents.

The Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative has 32 branches. 21 are in Tampa and 2 are in Ruskin. Odessa, Valrico, Brandon, Lutz, Riverview, Seffner, Temple Terrace, and Thonotosassa. It also has two bookmobiles, a History and Genealogy Library, a Law Library, and a research center.

The Holmes County Public Library is located in Bonifay, Florida. It is part of the Panhandle Public Library Cooperative System which also serves Calhoun and Jackson Counties.

The Indian River County Library System has four branches, three in Vero Beach and one in Sebastian. The main branch is in Vero Beach and has a Law Library in the second floor.

The Jackson County Public Library has two branches in Marianna and Graceville serving the people of Jackson County.

The Jacksonville Public Library has 22 locations within the Jacksonville area, most of which are easily accessible by public transportation. Library cards are available to any residents of Duval County.

The Lake County Library System has 15 branches in Astor, Fruitland Park, Lady Lake, Howey-in-the-Hills, Minneola, Tavares, Mount Dora, Sorrento, Montverde, Leesburg, Groveland, Paisley, Umatilla, and 2 in Clermont.

The Lake Park Public Library is located in Lake Park, Florida. It is an independent library in Palm Beach County and cards are available to anyone living in the county or working Lake Park.

The Lake Worth Public Library is located in Lake Worth, Florida. Library cards are available to resident of Lake Worth and any other Palm Beach County Library Cooperative city. Non-residents can purchase a library card for a small fee.

The Lakeland Library system has three branches, both in Lakeland. It is a part of the Polk County Library Cooperative and cards are available to all residents of Polk County.

The Largo Public Library is located in Largo, Florida. It is a part of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative and cards are available to anyone in Pinellas County.

The Lee County Library System has 15 branches is Bonita Springs, Captiva, Lehigh Acres, Boca Grande, North Fort Myers, Bokeelia, Estero, 6 in Fort Myers, and 2 in Cape Coral.

The Leon County Public Library has 7 branches, all located in Tallahassee. The main branch is downtown on West Park Avenue.

The Levy County Library System has 5 branches in Yankeetown, Bronson, Cedar Key, Chiefland, and Williston.

The Lynn Haven Library is a library located in Lynn Haven, Florida. Library cards are available for free to residents of Lynn Haven and for a small fee for people living outside of Lynn Haven.

The Manatee County Public Library System has 6 branches, 3 in Bradenton, and 1 each in Ellenton, Palmetto, and Holmes Beach. This system also includes the Talking Books for the Blind and Physically Handicapper library in Daytona Beach.

The Marion County Public Library System has 8 branches, 3 in Ocala and 1 in Belleview, Dunnellon, Ocklawaha, McCoy, and Reddick. The headquarters is in Ocala.

The Martin County Library System has 6 branches in Indiantown, Hobe Sound, Jensen Beach, Palm City, and 2 in Stuart. The Blake Library in Stuart contains a law library.

The Miami-Dade Public Library System has 50 branches. 29 of those branches including the main library are located in Miami. 3 are in Miami beach and 2 are in Doral. Coral Gables, Key Biscayne, West Miami, Miami Springs, Bay Harbor, Pinecrest, Opa-Locka, Hialeah Gardens, Miami Gardens, Sunny Isles Beach, Adventura, Palmetto Bay, Cutler Bay, Naranja, and Homestead each have one branch.

The Monroe County Public Library has 5 branches in the Florida Keys. They are in Key West, Big Pine, Marathon, Islamorada, and Key Largo.

The Nassau County Public Library has 5 branches in Bryceville, Callahan, Fernandina Beach, Hilliard, and Yulee.

New Port Richey Public Library is an independent public library in New Port Richey, Florida. It is separate from the Pasco County Library system, but cards are available to anyone within Pasco County.

The New River Public Library Cooperative is a cooperative of three libraries in Bradford County, Baker County, and Union County.

The Niceville Public Library is part of the Okaloosa County Public Library Cooperative. Library cards are free to all residents of Okaloosa County.

The North Miami Beach Library is a library in North Miami Beach, Florida. Library cards are available to anyone in North Miami Beach or surrounding cities.

The North Miami Public Library has been serving the residents of North Miami since 1932. Library cards are available for free for North Miami residents and residents from a few surrounding cities.

The Northwest Regional Library System serves Bay, Gulf, and Liberty counties in the Florida Panhandle. Bay County libraries are located in Panama City, Panama City Beach, Parker, and Springfield; Gulf County libraries are located in Port St Joe and Wewahitchja; and Liberty County libraries are located in Bristol and Hosford. The headquarters and largest library in the system is the Bay County Public Library in Panama City.

The Okaloosa County Public Library Cooperative is made up of 6 libraries in Crestview, Destin, Fort Walton Beach, Mary Esther, Niceville, and Valparaiso. There is also a library lending machine in Baker.

The Oldsmar Public Library is located in Oldsmar, Florida. It is part of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative. Library cards are available to anyone residing in Pinellas County.

The Orange County Library System has 16 branches. 11 are in Orlando and Eatonville, Edgewater, Apopka, Ocoee, Windermere, and Winter Garden. Several Orange County libraries have special features such as pick up and drop off windows. The West Oaks Branch in Ocoee has a genealogy center and the Orlando Public Library in downtown Orlando is home to the Melrose Center, where residents can access technology and equipment for photography, video, and audio projects.

The Palm Beach County Library System has 17 branches. 2 are in Boca Raton; 2 are in West Palm Beach; and Greenacres, Boynton Beach, Pahokee, Palm Beach Gardens, Wellington, Lake Worth, South Bay, Tequesta, Jupiter, Belle Glade, Royal Palm Beach, Delray Beach, and Loxahatchee each have 1. The Main Library is in West Palm Beach. The library system also has a bookmobile that brings books to other locations around the county.

The Palm Harbor Library has been serving the people of Palm Harbor since 1978.

The Palm Springs Public Library is part of the Palm Beach County Library Cooperative. Any residents within the cooperative cities are eligible for a free library card.

The Pasco County Library System has 8 branches, 2 in Holiday, 2 in Zephyrhills, and 1 each in Hudson, Dade City, Land O'Lakes, and New Port Richey.

The Pinellas Park Public Library, also called the Barbara S. Ponce Public Library. Library cards are available for any residents of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative jurisdictions.

The Pinellas Public Library Cooperative is a cooperative of 26 public libraries in Pinellas County. This includes the 7 branches of the St. Petersburg Library System, the 5 branches of the Clearwater Public Library System, and the 2 branches of the Dunedin Public Library. There is also libraries in Tarpon Springs, Seminole, St. Pete Beach, Safety Harbor, Pinellas Park, Palm Harbor, Oldsmar, Largo, Gulfport, Madeira Beach, and Palm Harbor. Most of these libraries are separate but connected and have their own websites.

The Polk County Library Cooperative is made up of many different libraries in Polk County. It includes libraries in Auburndale, Bartow, Dundee, Eagle Lake, Fort Meade, Frostproof, Haines City, Lake Alfred, Lake Wales, Lakeland, Mulberry, Polk City, and Winter Haven.

The Putnam County Library System has five libraries in Palatka, Crescent, Interlachen, Melrose, and Bostwick.

The Riviera Beach Public Library is part of the Palm Beach County Library Cooperative. Library cards are available for anyone within the county.

The Safety Harbor Public Library is a library in Safety Harbor, Florida. It is a part of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative.

The Sanibel Public Library serves residents of Sanibel. Library cards are available for anyone residing in Lee County.

The Santa Rosa County Library System has 5 branches in Pace, Navarre, Milton, Jay, and Gulf Breeze.

The Sarasota County Library System has 9 branches, 2 in Venice; 4 in Sarasota; and one each in Osprey, North Port, and Englewood.

The Seminole Community Library is located at St. Petersburg College in Seminole, Florida. It serves the community as both a public library and a college library.

The Seminole County Public Library has 5 branches in Longwood, Lake Mary, Sanford, Oviedo, and Casselberry.

The St. John's County Public Library System has 6 branches, 2 in St. Augustine, and 1 each in Anastasia Island, Fruit Cove, Hastings, and Ponte Vedra. It also has a bookmobile to bring books to other parts of the county.

The St. Lucie County Public Library System has 6 branches in Fort Pierce, Hurston, Lakewood Park, Morningside, Port St. Lucie, and St. Lucie West on the Pruitt Campus of Indian River State College.

The St. Pete Beach Public Library is part of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative. Library cards are available to anyone residing in Pinellas County.

The St. Petersburg Library System is comprised of seven branches within St. Petersburg. It is part of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative.

The Sumter County Library System ha two branches in The Villages and Wildwood as well as a library administrative office in Wildwood.

The Suwannee River Regional Library System serves Suwannee, Hamilton, and Madison Counties. Suwannee County has 2 branches in Branford and Live Oak. Madison County has 3 branches in Greenville, Lee, and Madison. Hamilton County has 3 branches in Jasper, Jennings, and White Springs.

The Tarpon Springs Public Library is a library in Tarpon Springs. It is part of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative.

The Osceola Library System has 6 branches, 3 in Kissimmee and 1 each in St. Cloud, Celebration, and Kenansville.

The Union County Public Library is Union County library in Lake Butler. It is part of the New River Public Library Cooperative which also serves Bradford and Baker counties.

The Valparaiso Community Library is a library in Valparaiso. It is part of the Okaloosa County Public Library Cooperative.

The Volusia County Public Library has 13 branches. 2 are in Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach, Port Orange, New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater, Oak Hill, DeLand, Pierson, Deltona, DeBary, Lake Helen, and Orange City each have one.

The Wakulla County Public Library is the only library in Wakulla County. It is located in Crawfordville.

The Walton County Library has four branches in Defuniak Springs, Freeport, Santa Rosa Beach, and Flowersview.

The West Florida Public Library System is the library system of Escambia County. It has 7 branches, 5 of which are in Pensacola. The other 2 are in Century and Molino. It also has a bookmobile service.

The Wilderness Coast Public Library System has four branches in Franklin County, Jefferson County, and Wakulla County. They are in Eastpoint, Carrabelle, Monticello, and Crawfordville.

The Wilton Manors Library is an independent public library in Wilton Manors, Florida. Library cards are available to any resident of Broward County.

The Winter Park Public Library is located in Winter Park, Florida. It is an independent public library. Library cards are available to residents and employees of Winter Park. Non-residents can buy a card for a small fee.
